I have never done Irish dancing.  Will this workout be too difficult for me?

Over half the women in the dvd had never done Irish dancing, and a couple had no dance experience at all. The steps are done in counts of four or eight, so there is no quick change of movement; and as there is very little arm movement in Irish dance, there is no coordination of feet and arms to worry about.  Many users can follow along without even going to the instruction section.

How long is the workout?

The workout is approximately 40 minutes long.  But, the advanced dvd menu allows you to pick routines or use one of the short 10 to 15 minute selective routines.  This allows you to adjust the workout to your time schedule or fitness level.

Do I need special dance shoes?

No.  A good aerobic support shoe is all you need.

Will this teach me Irish dance?

This is not an instruction dvd in Irish dance.  The techniques and speed involved in performance and competition level Irish dance require training which is not available from this dvd.  However, you will learn the basic Irish dance steps in a simpler, lower impact form.  The Irish 3 step, the Sevens, and the Jig are all traditional Irish dance steps.  You may find yourself dancing at your next Irish wedding!

How many calories will I burn?

The workout can be done at varying levels of intensity.  You may burn the equivalent of walking/marching or strenuous dancing/hopping.  But, calories aside, we hope the rhythms will make the workout one that you look forward to doing on a regular basis  A consistent exercise program will burn the most calories!
